Submission Guidelines

 

At On This Day in Film we only accept copy submitted electronically to onthisdayinfilm@gmail.com, no physical pieces will be accepted.

 

Please attach your copy in the English language via email in a Word document (.doc or .docx) using Arial size 12. Please include all hyperlinks and other links within the article and include any photos required within the document.

 

Your Word document copy should include the following:

 

- Type of writing (article, review, top 10 or other)

- Title of piece

- Author

- Twitter handle/Facebook page/website (note: only one of these will be used)

- Word count

- Author bio

- Article body

 

Please note the accepted word counts as per copy:

 

- Articles (300 - 1000 words)

- Reviews (300 - 500 words)

- Essays (1000 - 2000 words)

- Top 10s (200 - 400 words)

 

Review headings and scoring

 

On This Day in Film uses five headings and a unique scoring system with its reviews, please use the headings to write your review and include your scores in each category:

 

Clock Watching? (out of 20) - This refers to your enjoyment of the film, whether you were bored or totally engaged with the film.

 

Oscar Performances? (out of 20) - How was the acting? 

 

Lights, Camera, Direction? (out of 20) - How was the direction? Was the film made well?

 

Tell a Friend? (out of 20) - How highly would recommend this film to a friend?

 

Again? (out of 20) - Would you see this again?

 

Also, we include a Basic Plot section at the beginning of the review without revealing any spoilers.

Every submitted piece will be read and you will receive an email in return stating whether your copy will be used on www.onthisdayinfilm.com and if so, when the piece will be published.
